About the Course
The course will begin with an “audition/get to know you session” so we can best choose your Mentor. Come prepared with some idea of what you want to achieve in your act.
The course will conclude with a Cabaret performance of the acts created during ‘Cab Savvy’ at Star Theatres “Cabaret Uncorked” Performances, with the opportunity to perform your act at Cabaret under the Star in October 2017 or later in 2018 at The Fringe or Cabaret Fringe.
The classes, held over 3 weeks, will offer coaching and direction specific to each act and group classes to develop a full awareness of what constitutes a cabaret act. By the end of the 9 sessions, each participant will have a ‘10 minute Cabaret Act’.
• Each participant will also have the opportunity to work on a time-line plan to help achieve ambitions.
• Lesson notes are available after each lesson (where relevant).
• Full day classes will commence with a warm-up stretch/ballet class to develop good posture, breathing and body awareness.
• Over the course each participant will have private classes with their Mentor, and group workshop style class to discuss their ‘show plan’ or script.
• Participants will also work in small groups in the 3 main disciplines of Acting, Singing and Dance dependent on their preferred direction.
• At the end of the course all participants will have a one-on-one with the course director to help develop a plan their future and to receive constructive criticism from the tutors.
• Each full day will commence at 9.15 am with a 15 minute morning break, a lunch break at 12.30 pm, a 15 minute afternoon break, and the course will finish each day at 5:00pm. Come prepared with food.
• Evening classes will have a snack break during the evening, so come prepared with food.
• All Mentors and Tutors are industry professionals whose aim will be to guide participants into good performance habits, develop confidence in their chosen direction and develop the skills they already have.
• The intention of the course is to mentor, guide and direct the performers, it is not to teach how to sing, dance or act and is expected there will be an initial skill base of each participant to begin with. The course is not for beginners.

Outcomes
This course is not about learning a show, it’s learning your show, and developing what you have to become to be a solo performer. Enhance what you are capable of and we'll help guide your piece to the Cab Savvy Showcase Performance “Cabaret Uncorked” at the end of the course.
