We’re back for the fourth annual season of Star Theatres’ October Festival.
Last year we have a name change, the from ‘Cabaret Under the Star’ to the ‘Back to Back Short Show Festival’, SA’s purely local performers/producers Theatre Festival, at the home of live local theatre, Star Theatres One and Two. We’ve found that removing cabaret from the title opens up the possibility for a wider range of shows.
Over the last 3 years we had 65 different shows giving 115 performances over two weekends, and we can do more!
The ‘Back to Back Short Show Festival’ spans the last 2 weekends of October and utilises Star Theatres’ two venues.
We envisage back to back shows so the audience can see a 60-70 minute performance and then see another show 20 minutes later, making a complete night out.
We have had a delightful response from everyone involved the last 3 years and now it’s time to book a date and time if you are interested to be part of the festival. Applications will close 10th of April 2019.
A show session on both weekends is advised, as the first show will help sell the following. We have already confirmed interest from several actors and cabaret performers who will be part of the event for the fourth time.
Below you’ll find the performance time slots and a table with your possible projected income based on full or ½ houses.

Star Theatres will provide:
- All art work and posters, website and Facebook support, and the print and delivery of B2B posters throughout the city.
- The online and face-to-face box office.
- The venue. Theatre 1 will be in cabaret mode and will be scaled down to 140 seats and tables. Theatre 2 will remain in standard theatre mode, seating 72 patrons.
- A technician to operate lights and sound in both venues.
- Cleaning and electricity costs.
- All theatre staffing.
- A two hour rehearsal with technician the week prior to your first performance.
- A detailed print out of your sales income.
- General overall promotions to prospective audiences.
Your commitment:
- Your show of no more than 50-70 minutes as there will be parallel start and finish times in both venues.
- Whatever you need to make it happen.
- Availability to attend your free rehearsal period of up to 2 hours.
- Your own promotions to personal audiences (the more tickets you sell the more you make)
- A $200.00 registration fee, which will be refunded after your performance, providing your box office takes $200.00+. This protects us from last minute cancellations and will ensure your participation and assistance in the venture (approximately 20 tickets based on 50% share).

Possible Projected Income
All shows are sold at $28.50 to the public. This includes GST and booking fees.
The ‘Back to Back Short Show Festival’ projected income is based upon a $25 ticket profit.
($28.50 tickets, less GST and booking fee, fall at approx. $25)

We are also offering a 2 show ticket deal for $50 which will only return $25 per ticket,
so the above are just estimations of final income based on full price tickets.
